What file format is used for recordings made with the Shoot Me! app?
We use MP4 for all recordings, one of the most widely used and accepted video formats.
Does the recipient of my audition need to create an account to view the recording?
Not any more. Shoot Me! will send a viewable link to the recipient of your audition allowing them to view the audition from their web browser without logging in.
I’m a performer and I use the app to make recordings, is there any point in me logging on to my account at www.shoot.me?
Yes, of course there is. Your online space at www.shoot.me is a reflection of your app content so if you lose your phone or it runs out of battery, you can just log into www.shoot.me with the same details you used to sign up on the app, and you’ll be able to access your auditions from there. We’re nice like that.
Is there an Android version of the Shoot Me! app?
Not yet, but we are working hard to get an Android version in the Play Store as soon as possible.
I can’t get past the ‘rotate device’ screen.
Check your phone is not locked on Portrait Mode, if you’ve done that and the problem persists contact our support team on support@shoot.me
What about the filename?
The file is named according to standard conventions and is comprised of the Actor Name and Project Title that is given prior to the start of the recording e.g. actorname-projecttitle.mp4
What happens to my audition once I click ‘send’ from the app or the website?
Whether you’re sharing auditions from the app or from your online space on www.shoot.me the recipient will receive an email with a viewable link allowing them to view the audition for a fixed period of time without having to log in. Once the ‘public’ link expires the recipient will still be able to access the audition via their Shoot Me account.
I’m an agent / casting director and I use the website to manage clients / projects. Is there any point in me downloading the app?
For sure. If clients or candidates come in for a face-to-face and you want to record the audition, why not use the Shoot Me app and the video will appear on your account on www.shoot.me the moment you complete the recording. It’s instantaneous, and there’s nothing to send.
Why does the app force me to record in landscape mode?
Casting directors and other industry professionals always request that auditions are delivered to them in this orientation, and wherever possible Shoot Me conforms to the industry standard.
